Armed with only a bass and a drum this duo brings absolutely bone melting stoner doom. Their new album ‘Bunker’ is out and is called Bunker’ and is really heavy. Tracks that are minimum 8 minutes long and filled with slow distorted heaviness with the occasional grunt. Really awesome stonerdoom records, altough I would love a bit more vocals. Released on Inverted Grim-Mill Recordings.
Thundering riffs in this heavy stoner album “Pagan Nouveau” by the Wisconsin rockers Poney. Their fith release gets a LP release on Forbidden Place Records so if you are into some epic riffing then this is something for you. Tune in and check out Poney.
This is some really nice shit, Somnus Throne gives instant joy with their very heavy riffs and you get that Sleep vibe yet Somnus Throne is faster. The tracks are about ten minutes each and do not get boring at all, vocals are excellent and give it a psychedelic feeling. The sound of the album is magnificent, everything fits perfectly.
It has been a while since I enjoyed new stonerdoom as much as this. The trio from all over America released this new self titled album on Burning World Records on September 24 and is a must have for every fan of stoner, doom, sludge and heavy psych. A real banger.
The Weedian series are compilation albums that are released on Blues Funeral Recordings. Filled with the latest offerings from all the great stoner, doom and Heavy psych. These comps are great way to hear some great new heavy stuff with a focus on stoner doom. Listen to part four and get to know some great new bands.
Now, this band has has stepped it up quite a notch. Their new stuff is called “Holy Shit” and is just a riff feast. Elements of psych, stoner, spacerock and noise are all there and fit as good as the shoe fits on cinderalla. The album hits as hard emotionally as the death of Bambi or the loss felt in 1988 classic movie l’ours. The psychedelic riffs make me feel as high as Carl Fredricksen in Up. You get the picture I guess. Now what else is remarkable is all the times we see the word shit in this EP and another word i did not know was Fatberg. So what do you do if you are ignorant or stupid? You wiki it ofcourse.
“A fatberg is a congealed mass in a sewer system formed by the combination of flushed non-biodegradable solid matter, such as wet wipes, and congealed grease or cooking fat.Fatbergs became a problem in the 2010s in Britain, because of ageing Victorian sewers and the rise in usage of disposable (so-called “flushable”) cloths.”
“Shit is a word generally considered to be vulgar and profane in Modern English. As a noun, it refers to fecal matter, and as a verb it means to defecate; in the plural (“the shits”), it means diarrhoea. Shite is a common variant in British and Irish English. As a slang term, it has many meanings, including: nonsense, foolishness, something of little value or quality, trivial and usually boastful or inaccurate talk or a contemptible person. It could also be used to refer to any other noun in general or as an expression of annoyance, surprise or anger.”
I have said like everything that is needed right?
This is a really good label, It is mostly stoner and doom wich is pretty close to the stuff I share so this sampler is some of the best stuff you can find on the label. The music are hand-picked tracks from across the label’s 2018, 2019 and 2020 releases. Some really awesome bands like Elder and Domkraft are included. It is a pay-what-you-want album you get a T-shirt with it!
I always loved the music of Fu Manchu, the prefect balance betweens stoner and punk. Heaviness that has a feel good vibe, that is groove and addictive. The band is back with a 30th Anniversary vinyl 10” series, Fu30, Pt.1, includes 2 new original Fu Manchu songs, as well as a cover of The Doobie Brothers’ “Takin’ It To The Streets.
Tune in for the track ‘Time Is Going On’
Elder has released some incredible stuff over the years, but lately they seem too experiment with their sound. “The Gold and Silver Sessions” was an album that was more psychedelic wich fitted more on Fuzzy Sun than this new thing but I still prefer the heavy riffed doomlike Elder from long ago. Now, normally I am a big fan of experimenting and changing sounds but this is all wrong for me. I expect heaviness from Elder, I expect high psychedelia with riffs and strong vocals. But on this new album ‘Omens’ everything of the good stuff is gone, I can’t seem to find a good riff, the vocals are really weak. They seem to have changed in a bad progmetal band. I see a lot of praise for this album around the web so I am glad lots of people like it but this is not the Elder I want.
This is some godlike stonerdoom. It’s been a long time since I listen to stonerdoom and it seems Dopelord has awaken that flame again. From the first track “The Witching Hour Bell” it is clear Dopelord is going for the win with bone shattering riffs and really good vocals. When you buy this album you get six tracks with the most awesome names like “Doom Bastars”, “Hail Satan”, “Headless Decapitator”. Can you handle these riffs, can you handle this kind of dense heaviness? yes? Then listen now and listen loud. “Sign of the Devil” is out now!
I will call this scumbag rock. These guys deserve their own genre, a bit of noiserock, punk and heavy stoner riffing together with the dirty vocals make this extremely greasy music. They released two tracks from their upcoming album “Holy Shit” EP which is a really good name for their EP, also their first tracks ‘Holy Shit part 1’ is a superb track and again awesome name. Their latest track is called fatberg and is just rocknroll, psych and noise and stoner and frikkan awesome solos al cramped together. Awesome.
On the great Necio Records comes the new album by riffmasters El Jefazo. The Band hails from Lima and produces instrumental psychedelic stoner. Their new album is called “Simbiosis” and is ten tracks of cosmic heaviness. Tune in and trip away with El Jefazo.
I think by now everyone agrees that the four piece band Elder is a very versatile and talented band. They have released a lot of different heaviness, some of their music Heavy psych, stoner, psychedelic rock and it seems that we get something completely different yet again. After their previous, very psychedelic, “The Gold and Silver Sessions” it is time for their new album “Omens” wich will be out April 24. The first track is more then ten minutes long and is called “Embers”. Tune in to here the progressive hard rock tunes.
The Annapolis trio are Ryan and Shane Wash joined by Jeremy Hayes and their band is called Mojo Bozo’s Electric Circus and they have been featured a couple of times on Fuzzy Sun. They have a very varying sound ranging from heavy psych, to mellow tunes to surf rock. They have released their debut album “Electric Circus” in 2018 and now Fuzzy Sun can premiere the new track called “Ten Years Tired” from their upcoming album “Germ City” wich will be released early 2020.On this track the trio goes full psychedelic surf with rockabilly vibes.
Tune in now and enjoy some feel good rocknoll.
The Belgian Heavy Psych/Stoner band Grotto released their new LP ‘Lantern of Gius’ on October 18. The LP is released on Stickman Records.
Their are two tracks on ‘Lantern of Gius’ each 17 minutes long and each times 17 minutes of psychedelic doom! gorgeous riffs and epic guitar solos. This LP is a nice piece of heavy psych and doom. Tune in now.
The Australian heavy psych band Pseudo Mind Hive are back. Ther previous debut album “From Elsewhere” was a gorgeous start of a new psych band and on their new album “Of Seers & Sirens” they have perfected their sound. An album with gorgeous heavy riffs, good vocals but the psychedelic parts, intermezzos and solos are absolutely magical. This magical trip was released October 25 and needs your ears. Tune in now.
Favourite track: Equinox
You can find Pseudo Mind Hive on “The Australian List”
On Forbidden Place Records you can Pre-Order the new debut album by Iowa band Melting Human Trash.
The trio that is called Meltin Human Trash brings us a mix of heavy fuzz, psychedelic elements, stoner and goddamn good and groovy riffs. This is a really good debut album and needs to be heard by the masses. (And possible one of the better album covers of 2019).
Some track are pure fuzz and riffs while others tend to be noisy with garagerock influences. Pretty cool debut by this band. Tune in and enjoy.
Mars Red Sky is one of those bands that has their very own sound. There are a lot of stoner and doombands and a lot of these sound all like each other. This band though has their very own unique sound and they have been rocking it for quite a while. Their new album ‘The Task Eternal’ is yet again a nice piece of work. The album is released September 27 through Listenable Records. Tune in and feel the fuzz.
The Weedian series are compilation albums that are released on Blues Funeral Recordings. Filled with the latest offerings from all the great stoner, doom and Heavy psych. Thiss compilation has three unreleased songs from Holy Serpent, Firebreather and Howling Giant. Fry your brain with all this awesomeness now.
The Norwegian heavy fuzz rockers have released a split with the Occult rockers Devil’s Witches and it is called ‘COVEN OF THE ULTRA-RIFF’ and is out since September 6 through Majestic Mountain Records and cassette through Stoner Witch Records.
The band has also a new album out called ‘Interstellar Voodoo’ with a track that is 40 minutes of godly fuzz. Delicious riffs and stoner vocals make this album real good. This is psychedelic fuzz with a 70’s vibe.
Favourite track: ‘Interstellar Voodoo’
How do i only just discovered this band? Good Lord, Khan is this heavy psych band with cosmic stoner vibes and they absolutely kill it on their new record. ‘Vale’ is their new album and is released September 6 on Salty Dog (the Australian label that hosts a lot of really good bands).
‘Vale’ has heavy riffin tracks and hazy psych tracks on this new album and together that blends in one hell of a great album.
I added Khan to ‘The Australian List‘ because its awesome.
