New music by Girl Band, Lightning Bolt and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

While I was a couple of days away a couple of incredible new releases saw the light of day. Most of you have possible heard this stuff over the last days but here they are anyways.
Girl Band

You probably know by now that Girl Band is back and they return full force. The first single Shoulderblades was released a while ago and now the second single is dropped. ‘Going Norway’ is from their upcoming album ‘The Talkies’ wich will be released 27th September on Rough Trade Records. ‘Going Norway ‘ and ‘Shoulderblades’ is on their 12″ that you can buy right now. Lightning Bolt

This is quite some news too, Lightning Bolt returns with their fast paces noiserock. They have shared their first track ‘Air Conditioning’ from their upcoming album ‘Sonic Citadel’ wich will be released on Thrill Jockey. This is their first new music since the 2015 album ‘Fantasy Empire’. Like most bands their sound evolves and shifts and this is no different with the new Lightning Bolt. But what stays the same is the ferociousness and extreme fast paced drumming. Hear for yourselves and tune in for ‘Air Conditioning’.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

The new album ‘Infest The Rats’ Nest’ by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is out. The band is known for their fast paced releases but mostly I believe for their varied sound. They can release semi-jazz albums, heavy psych, mellow psychpop and so forth. On this new album they go heavy, real heavy. At first I thought this would be a trashmetal album. But what makes ‘Infest The Rats’ Nest’ so good is that they keep their unique psych sound that you can find in each album. On this album you can hear a lot of trashmetal, but also some vintage hardrocksounds and ofcourse their very own psychedelic sound. Tune ine for the new album now. And excellent new release again by king Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

Qujaku released limited 200 EP

The thing is out! And we can listen to the second track ‘In Neutral’ too, wich is filled with psychedelic sax. Tune in and enjoy the one of the best Japanese bands. You can also read under the video about how much i love Qujako and listen to their other music.

I have been rambling a lot in the past three years about the Japanese band Qujaku. The Hamamatsu-based Japanese band has become one of my favorite acts and not without reason, since they formed in 2013 they have released amazing music. In  2015 came their debut ‘ZyouK’ and they toured UK, Germany and Hungary, followed by a release of an EP, “KEIREN”. In 2017, they released an EP “H” and toured with 26 shows over Europe. In 2018 came their latest album ‘Qujaku’ wich immediatly became one of my favorite for 2018.

Qujaku is difficult to classify, they draw influence from Japanese legends like Keiji Haino and the mystical Les Reallizes Denudes, But that is not it, they have created their very own sound, a sound that can be so delicate and intricate and with the perfect transition they can shift to brutal riffs mixed with noise and agressive drumming. The soft vocals seem to fit in perfectly in either the extreme heavy parts as in the soft bits. Equal parts psychedelic as doom and noise, Qujaku as a refreshing and original take on modern heavy music.

Now enough blabbering! Their new EP ‘In Neutral’ will be released in limited print. their we be 200 EPs released and we can expect them on 26th of July on the So I Buried label. Now they shared their first track from that EP called ‘Gloria’. Again we can hear the band with their specific dark sound constantly on the verge of exploding. A gorgeous track from a band that needs to be heard, needs to be shared!

The band will tour again (and i will have the opportunity too see them again) and you will have to see them too if possible because they are an absolute force live.

Cherubs release ‘Immaculada High’

The noiserock trio Cherubs returned after a two-decade hiatus in 2014 and they released 2 Ynfynyty in 2015, a split with Gay Witch Abortion in 2016 and the Fist in The Air EP in 2016.

Their new album ‘Immaculada High’ is very intense and expertly crafted. The slow, brooding and epic songs like ‘Soooey Pig’  and ‘IMCG’  create a hazy feeling but there are enough high energy tracks filled with agression and riffs to keep this a very heavy album. Absolutely gorgeous!

The band shows with ‘Immaculada High’ that they are on top of the food chain. Tune in, buy the album on Relapse Records and enjoy the noise of cult rockers Cherubs.

You need to listen to Rainbow Grave

There are loads of reasons that Rainbow Grave released one of the top albums of this year. The band features Nicholas Bullen (founder member of Napalm Death and Scorn) and John Pickering (founder member of Doom and Sore Throat) and makes just about the most dirtiest music I have heard in a long time. Tormented vocals, greasy riffs and guitar noise make this band absolutely worth every second of your time.

Their music has a very sludgy andangry punk vibe, so much heavy music has been made but this feels very original. Bits of noise rock, sludge, punk and psych all blended into one record that is called ‘No You’. I made spaghetti while i listened to this album end it ended looking like beef stew for dogs, this music is so angry it ruined my food.

The album is released through God Unknown Record and will look gorgeous in your collection.  Out July 19!
