Cosmic jazz The Comet Is Coming

The London band The Comet Is Coming has made some pretty cool music in the past. With their debut EP ‘Prophecy’ and soon after the full-length ‘Channel The Spirits’ they have made quite a name for themselves.

The band mix psychedelic rock and Jazz and end up with a cosmic result. The new album is called “Trust In The Lifeforce Of The Deep Mystery” and we can check out the first track “Summon The Fire”.

Tune in for some cosmic psychedelic jazz.

Skeletonized/Heavy Wave

I used to post a lot more weird and experimental stuff on this website. This probably irritates everyone a lot and i will not stop because weird music awesome.
Let us take a look at the Pittsburgh band Skeletonized. Current lineup includes saxophone, drums, synth & samples(members of Triangle & Rhino & Fantasy Crime). It sounds something like the sax wants to play cool free jazz but ends up doing noise rock.
The track “Henchmen” is my favorite because of the “normal” intro and then the violent turn only to end in some kind of doomjazz finale. Skeletonized is pretty awesome and you should listen to it.

Goatman release “Rhythms”

Goatman is a member of the Swedish collective Goat and as a fan of the band I was expecting pretty much from this new release. And it delivered! The album “Rhythms” is a mix of African Rock, Jazz, Reggae, Gospel and Psych.
The moment you play the first track “Jaam Ak Salam” you know you are going to be in for a treat. The uplifting vibe and groove can make any dark day better.
Each track is original and all the different instruments find a perfect place to make make this a gorgeous album. The solos on “Hum bebass Nahin” are haunting my dreams, The happiness of “Limelight” makes my days more fun, and the sax on “Carry the Load” is just spicing things up, and so on… .
Play this all the time and be happy. Out on Rocket Recordings 12/10. A must listen. Check out more psych on Fuzzy Sun’s spotify.

Brilliant jazz by Sons of Kemet

This is a bit different then what i normally post about, but i can’t help it. Is it because of the scorching temperatures, the lack of sleep or the excessive sweating, i have no idea but the latest record of the UK jazz band Sons of Kemet is absolutely gorgeous and i can’t stop listening to it.
Bandleader and saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings is also known for his work with The Comet is Coming, The Ancestors and occasional player with the Sun Ra Akestra.
Check out their latest album ‘Your Queen is a Reptile’.

Experimental musicians Dead Neanderthals

The Dutch experimental duo Dead Neanderthals deals in noise, minimal, drone and other obscure genres. Frequently releasing great music (the one more sinister than the other) we now get aother track. This thing is called ‘Life’ with a duration of 36 minutes. The mostly present sax and drums on other albums you will not find on ‘Life’. prepare to get the life sucked out of you with these ominous sounds. amazing coverart by Alexis Zirrit.
