South London’s Honkies Share ‘Buzz Band’ Ahead of Debut Album

After a change of line-ups, South London scuzz-fiends Honkies have returned with the blistering ‘Buzz Band’ following on from ‘Slugs’ which we featured a couple of months back.

Akin to Black Lips, Fat White Family and Sleep Eaters, ‘Buzz Band’ is a 2-plus minute riot of explosive garage-rock blended with sleaze-filled country-rock.

Forming of Jim Sutcliffe (Guitar / Lead Vox), Callum Charman (Bass/Vox) Robin ‘Maddog’ McCready (Lead Guitar), Cat Rin (Synth/ Vox) and Alex ‘The Hairdresser’ Herd (Drums), the quintet are proving to be one of the capitals finest garage-rock bands right now.

You can listen to ‘Buzz Band’ below ahead of the release of Honkies’ debut album out this summer and catch the band at the following live shows:

19.02 – The Talleyrand, Stockport
21.02 – Flying Duck, Glasgow
14.03 – Shacklewell Arms, London w/Sweaty Palms

Honkies Share Garage-Country Punk Banger ‘Slugs’

Hailing from South London come garage-country punk outfit Honkies who have been tearing up their native land for sometime sharing stages with the likes of black midi and Black Country New Road.

The quintet are out to make a name for themselves and have just dropped their newest offering ‘Slugs’. Coming in at just over 3 minutes, ‘Slugs’ is akin to the depraved, twisted sounds of the likes of Fat White Family and Black Lips. Disheveled, ramshackle-esque, beautifully abhorrent garage-rock, Honkies sound like a band on the verge of collapse.

On the single itself which will be available via 7″ vinyl 16 November, guitarist/lead vocalist Jim Sutcliffe explains “The lyrics are an ode to attending bad social functions for the sake of spending time with good people– mostly on cocaine.”

Honkies will be taking their sludged out country-soaked garage-rock to a number of venues across London very soon.
