Bandcamp Day stuff part I with KGATLW, Unwound, Sonic Youth and Boris

These bandcamp days are really nice and perfect just before the weekend to get a massive dose of new music. I already shared a load of new music that was out today but in this post I will share the rereleases, rare released and live stuff.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

Together with oh Sees one of my favorite psych bands and both of them really hardworking bands with a lot of output. Here are their ‘Demos Vol. 1 + Vol. 2’ with some absolute gems on it. And ofcourse another live album called ‘Live in Asheville ’19’.

Unwound

The Unwound session on 6/30/1999 in Reykjavik, Iceland. No more words needed.

Sonic Youth

Volume 3 of Sonic Youth’s Rarities series features unreleased and hard-to-find studio recordings, mostly instrumental. This collection spans from the group’s first Peel session – recorded remotely from NYC – to demos and rehearsals for our final record, The Eternal.

Boris

boris has been releasing archive series and rereleases and now they have rereleased Präparat, Vein and Eternity.

Boris release new video for track ‘Zerkalo’ from ‘No’

‘LφVE & EVφL’ was the previous album by The Japanese experimental rockers Boris, that album was filled with doom and epic guitar work. Now they are back with their new album ‘No’. This album is quite different then their latest work. This Boris is the agressive version, the hardcore and trash version, filled with epic solo work and gorgeous riffs, perfect vocals for the music. Yet they stay true to their sound, like at the end of ‘Loveless’ the typical doom sound comes back. This is a band with years of experience and an absolute talent to make heavy music.

‘No’ is an intense and fun listen, with a nostalgic vibe to it. It is awesome from start to finish. Boris is on The Cosmic Side of Japan too.

Now they released the new video ‘Zerkalo’ from that new album and it is the perfect time to revisit the whole album again.

Tune in now.

Japanese heaviness Boris are back with new music

‘LφVE & EVφL’ was the previous album by The Japanese experimental rockers Boris, that album was filled with doom and epic guitar work. Now they are back with the first track of their upcoming album ‘No’. This album will be released July 3d. The first track is called ‘Loveless’ and it really is an amazing track, it starts of as thrash metal track with hardcore influences and again the typical guitar work. More at the end of the song the signature sound of Boris comes out, sweeping doom with epic screeching guiter. This track is really good and promising for the whole record. Boris is on The Cosmic Side of Japan too.

Boris release ‘LφVE & EVφL’

Too put Boris in a box is a bit too easy, yes, their music is drenched in doom but Boris are a very unique band with a sound that has shifted and changed through the years. Their new records ‘LφVE & EVφL’, for me personally, is Boris at their peak, at their absolute best. The sound on their new record is sounds like a balance between light and happiness and haunted and filled with dread. Some tracks can be soothing and filled with hope and then you have those riffs and vocals that are dragging doom and ruin with the most gorgeous of guitar solos making that make it even more epic. The album starts with an epic postrock track that speaks of hope, the next track ‘Coma’ is follow-up but the dread is building up. ‘Evol’ is 16 minutes of experimental songmaking, this track is made of epic ambient doom, doomriffs that suck your soul out and postrock solos. ‘Uzume’ is bleak magnificent drone and ‘In the pain(t)’ ambient. The album ends with ‘Shadow of Skull’ wich is my favorite. This is brilliant, take your time and listen to Boris.

The Japanese doomlords Boris are back

Their is going to be a new double LP called ‘LφVE & EVφL’ by the Japanese Heavyweight Boris. We can expect it to land October 4th through Third Man Records. The first track from that upcoming beast is released and is called ‘Love’ and is a gorgeous piece of work. The riffs are tantalizingly slow and create an eerie atmosphere together with the gosthlike vocals. With this track the trio again shows they are masters in what they do.

Tune in for the first track ‘Love’ and pre-order the album here: https://orcd.co/boris_love_evol
