Scottish Space Race by The Cosmic Dead

Today marks the day of the release ‘Scottish Space Race’ by The Cosmic Dead. New members Tommy Duffin (drums) and Russell Andrew Gray (lap-steel synthesizer) are added to the Glasgow rockband.

I have been a fan of The Cosmic Dead for a while, saw their raw energy live and really enjoyed their tunes but this ne walbum with the 4 long tracks is something else entirely. The first track spans 21 minutes and starts off trippy drone sounds, but it erupts pretty fast into a heavy psych/noise explosion. This is one hell of a way to start an album. The second track ‘Urja Major’ is gorgeous, it is perfect psych and prog tunes, extremely trippy. Third track and title track sounds a bit more like the classic The Cosmic Dead, in this track, wich arguably is their best, they mix punk, psych and heaviness in one pumped up track. With ‘The Grizzard’ they close the album with 24 minutes of epic space rock. Out on Riot Season Records.

This here, this album, this is the shit.
